Darts Premier League 2022 – likely winners

With the 2022 Darts Premier League rapidly approaching, now seems like a good time to start thinking about who might potentially go on to win the competition. The Premier League hands its winner a cheque for £250,000 at the end, so you can be confident that each player will be trying their hardest to come out on top.

When is the 2022 Cazoo Premier League darts season?

The 2022 Premier League darts season starts on 3rd February at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.

Who will win the 2022 Cazoo Darts Premier League?

Michael van Gerwen

Michael “Mighty Mike” van Gerwen was last season’s Premier League winner and was victorious in 10 of his 16 appearances. Van Gerwen is currently ranked third in the Professional Darts Corporation’s (PDC) Order of Merit, having earned over £800,000 in ranking tournaments over the last two years. Although the odds on Michael van Gerwen winning a consecutive Premier League title might not blow you away, you can be reasonably sure that he’ll at least put in a good performance.

Gerwyn Price

Gerwyn “The Iceman” Price is first in the PDC’s Order of Merit, having taken well over £1.2m in prize money from ranking tournaments since 2019. Price was unable to take part in the 2021 Premier League season after he tested positive for Covid-19, but he’ll be eager to make up the difference this time around. In the 2020 season, Gerwyn Price performed fairly averagely, but if he’s feeling confident in the Cazoo 2022 season, nobody should count him out.

Peter Wright

Peter “Snakebite” Wright narrowly missed out on the 2020 Darts Premier League title. Despite grabbing a nine-dart finish against Gurney, he eventually lost to Durrant by a single point. His 2021 appearance was slightly less compelling, leaving him in seventh place. The 51-year-old will be hoping to add to the £1m of prize money that he’s won from ranked tournaments in the last couple of years, and to put his last Premier League performance out of his mind.
