Leicester Tigers vs Gloucester Rugby – Gameweek 18

Leicester Tigers vs Gloucester Rugby – Gameweek 18

League leaders Leicester host Gloucester at Welford Road in gameweek 18 of the Gallagher Premiership.

Leicester have had an incredible season, winning 13 of their 15 matches, and sit comfortably at the top before meeting Bath in gameweek 17. They are currently on 61 points, eight points ahead of Saracens.

Gloucester are also having a fantastic season and are in third place with 47 points. They are four points clear of the fourth-placed Harlequins.

Gloucester are in a great position to qualify for the playoffs and will be well rested to face the Tigers as they have a bye in gameweek 17. The Tigers will be missing a few key personnel such as George Ford, Freddie Steward, Ben Youngs and Captain Ellis Genge, who are away on England duty.

They hardly seemed to miss them in the last match though when they steamrolled the Saints. The timely return from injury of powerhouse winger Nemani Nadolo has somewhat offset the national call-ups and he was in brilliant form, scoring two tries against the Saints.

Ford has been the Tigers player of the season and many thought that he would be impossible to replace, but Freddie Burns played a blinder in the win over the Saints.

Gloucester have their own player of the season in Ruan Ackermann as the South African has been involved in everything good about the team.

These are the two teams with the best rolling mauls in the league and it will be interesting to see which one comes out on top in this mini battle.

The Gloucester vs Tigers match earlier in the season finished 26-33, so expect another close game.  Despite the absence of key personnel, the Tigers should edge this contest as they have great depth in their squad.
