José de Sousa Information
José de Sousa was born on 25th February in 1974 in Azambuja, Portugal and began his darts journey as a soft-tip circuit winner in 1993 while working as a kitchen fitter and carpenter in Lisbon. He has been a staple of the international darts community for decades and boasts one televised title, one non-televised PDC title and two nine-dart finishes.
José de Sousa Professional History
Despite his early success with soft-tips in the early 1990s, De Sousa would find it a bit more difficult to break into the steel-tip circuit. 2011 marked his first World Championship play, and although he was defeated by Devon Petersen, he put on a good show and almost won a Tour Card at his second attempt in 2017. De Sousa’s first steel-tip World Championship Tour Card win took place in 2019, at which point he officially became a full-time professional.
The first televised title of De Sousa’s darts career was the Grand Slam of Darts in 2020.
