With the 2022 Premier League in full swing, attentions turn to night four of the competition with an intriguing-looking match-up between two World Champions as Gerwyn Price takes on Peter Wright. 

When the Premier League Darts fixtures were announced, this was one of the match-ups that the fans would have been looking out for.

Both Price and Wright stand clear at the top of the world rankings and over the last few years have been the dominant force in world darts. There isn’t any love lost between the pair, and whenever they meet, it’s always an entertaining and fiery contest. 

The pair first met in 2014, and while Wright held the upper hand in their earlier meetings, their recent matches have been a lot more even with wins for both, including in tournament finals.

The matches are always tight and competitive, with the players often averaging very similar amounts. Contests often come down to who can finish the best, and Wright has proven himself superior in this department in recent clashes.

Wright has won three of the last four meetings, but it was Price who won their last high-profile match. He beat Wright 16-8 in the final of the Grand Slam. 

Neither Price nor Wright have won the Premier League, but it’s Wright who looks to be more at home with the league’s new format.

Wright, as the newly crowned World Champion, will be looking to show that he is the best player in the game right now. Despite this match being a tough one to call, it’s Wright who has to start as the slight favourite in what is sure to be another classic between the pair.
